Save $$ Getting Clean

We just got one of these new-fangled showerheads for our bathroom. The unique feature is that you turn the shower on, and then when the water gets hot enough for you to shower in IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF. When you are ready to get in, just pull the cord and the water comes back on. Check it out by clicking on the link above or cut and paste their website:

Bush is Scaring Us To Death...Literally

Does not come as surprise to me...just another downside of having assholes like Bush and Cheney lead our country....

Specifically, The New York Times, in its science section today, reports that a new study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry has found that while the risk to Americans of dying at the hands of a terrorist was roughly equal to the chance of “drowning in a toilet,” the risk of cardiovascular disease among people who are frightened about the threat of terrorism is 300-500% higher than for people who are not worried. What this means is that the Bush/Cheney administration, by constantly hyping the nation’s fears of terror through the use of everything from daily color-coded terror alerts, to absurd inspection procedures at airline terminals and parcel post restrictions, is actually scaring some of us to death.

Republicans Are Looking Out For Your Interests....Except If You Are A Middle Class Working Person

Here go the Republicans again....stimulating the economy in the whole way they know how....cutting taxes on the wealthy and leading middle class working people to work longer and harder to keep up!

Today, Rep. Eric Cantor (VA), the chief deputy Republican whip in the House, unveiled his proposal to stimulate the economy. His legislation — the so-called Middle Class Job Protection Actdoes nothing for the middle class. Instead, it reduces the corporate tax rate by 28 percent.
At a press conference today unveiling the stimulus proposal, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) justified the conservative plan to give tax breaks to corporations — instead of working Americans — by arguing that people actually like working long hours:
I am so proud to be from the state of Minnesota. We’re the workingest state in the country, and the reason why we are, we have more people that are working longer hours, we have people that are working two jobs.
Bachmann’s version of the American Dream is apparently working two full-time jobs and struggling to get by.

Aren't These The Folks Who Are Supposed to Keep Us Safe From Terrorism??

I guess the Republicans aren't the ones to count on after all to keep us safe from terrorism.....

A former congressman has been charged in connection with his work for an Islamic charity accused of funneling money to an Afghan warlord, prosecutors announced Wednesday. The money laundering, conspiracy and obstruction of justice charges against former Michigan Rep. Mark Deli Siljander are part of a 42-count indictment released by the U.S. attorney's office in Kansas City, Missouri.

Prosecutors allege Siljander's co-defendants -- the directors of an Islamic charity -- hired him to get the organization off a list of agencies suspected of links to terrorism and paid him with stolen U.S. government funds.

Siljander served three terms in the House of Representatives before losing to a Republican primary challenger in 1986. He later served as a U.S. delegate to the U.N. General Assembly late in the Reagan administration.
He now operates a consulting and public relations firm based in suburban Washington.

Huckabee Still Leading in Race for Wackiest Candidate

I guess the only question is which god's standards we will select????

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

The Dream Lives On

The end is near for Dennis, but apparently he will get a last chance to breath some sanity into the primary season....

Kucinich OK'd for debate, appeal planned:

NBC to Appeal Court Decision Granting Kucinich Entry to Tuesday's Democratic Debate in Nevada

NBC News said Monday it will appeal a judge's ruling rather than include Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich in a candidates' debate in Nevada.

Senior Clark County District Court Judge Charles Thompson ruled that Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, must be allowed to participate. If he is excluded, Thompson said he would issue an injunction to stop the televised debate.

Kucinich's lawyer had argued that MSNBC at first invited him to participate, then last week reversed course and told him he could not.

A lawyer for the network said MSNBC decided to go with the top three candidates after the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries.

Thompson called it a matter of fairness and said Nevada voters will benefit by hearing from more than just top contenders Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards.
